The Arc of Altoona Ukulele Club is small but mighty! Led by Miss Melanie, they play and sing together every other Tuesday, and we rejoice in finding songs that give maximum fun while using the fewest chords. The Arc of Blair County is an organization whose mission is "to improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through advocacy, education, support and socialization."
We began working with the Arc in May of 2022 to give their members an opportunity to play ukulele. Through a grant, the Arc was able to have bi-monthly uke lessons. After the grant ended, we just kept going! The Arc of Altoona Uke Club has recently been performing at various community events, such as a Kiwanis meeting, a basketball game, and at local street festivals.
